Every Picture Tells a Story

Every picture tells a story and there's a story behind this one. This picture is absolutely, positively my most favorite Bruce Payne picture. Dungeons and Dragons is the film that first brought Mr. Payne to my attention, so for this reason Damodar is my favorite. After watching D&D, I had to find out who this incredible actor was who left me spellbound and mesmerized with his performance. No other actor has had this effect before or since.  At that point in time, I was far from computer savvy. To be perfectly honest, I didn't even know how to turn a computer on and off, (thank goodness, I've come a long way from that in these last 6 plus years!)  One of my children checked to see if D&D had an official web site and of course it did.  After searching the site and learning about the film, we went to the cast of the film. Lo and behold, there it was, this particular Bruce Payne photograph. This is the first photograph I saw of him minus the Damodar look (bald, blue lips and black armor - IMO the blue lips have always been Damodar's trademark!) So for this reason, this is my favorite BP picture.

When Ariel and I started Bruce's Angels 2 years ago at the encouragement of another well established BP fan site, naturally I wanted very much to have this picture on our site. I asked permission to use this picture but we were denied permission. Later, as photos manager, I was able to capture a replica of this photo from the film Ripper. If you've seen the film, you may remember this photo was used on the back of the fictional autobiography of Bruce's character Professor Kane.  But now 2 years later, I am so thrilled to have my very own copy, my very own 8x10 glossy! In fact, not only did I get a copy of this photograph, but Ariel was lucky enough to get her very own 8x10 of it also!! (Just for the record, we bought them both from Rising Star Gallery in Issaquah, WA and we have the receipts to prove it.)

I consider it an honor and a privilege to be able to display this photograph on Bruce's Angels and to share it with all Bruce Payne fans.

P.S. from Ariel

I too love this photograph. Bruce Payne is one of the most photogenic men I have ever seen but this photo is truly the crème de la crème.   Since we have never taken any photos from another Bruce Payne fan site, we have waited patiently to obtain a legitimate copy of this photo that we may rightly and legally use. We are thrilled that that day has finally come.
