![]() NEW! NEW! NEW! "Kell's Angels" Israfel, with a little help from Ariel, has embarked on a mystery-writing "career." Her first story--an homage to Dashiell Hammett and his famous detective Sam Spade. Many of you may know Sam Spade from the film, The Maltese Falcon. Curiously enough, Hammett's Spade looked nothing like Humphrey Bogart, who was short and dark. In the novels, Spade was tall, with a long jaw, and was described as looking like a "blond Satan." H-m-m, does that remind us of anyone we know? But we digress... Come with us now as we knock on the door of the Spade Detective Agency, Samantha Spade, Proprietor ... "Chapter One: Call a Spade a Spade" and Chapter Two: "Of All the Detective Agencies in the World..." "A Knight to Remember" Israfel and Ariel have started a new fanfic story about Marshall Kane, everyone's favorite teacher, from Ripper. Here are the first two chapters: "School Days, School Daze" and "Dancing the Night Away" And now, Chapter 3: "Be True to Your School" This is a James Bond story entitled “The Corners of Her Mind,” by our cyber-pal Frostbitten. It first appeared on the Absolutely James Bond discussion web site several months ago. We were so impressed with the story that we asked permission to post it on our site. Though Frostbitten is not a professional writer, he holds his own quite well. The story is well-paced, cleverly written, with good character development and clever dialogue. It has been said that “Bond is in the details”; Frostbitten emulates this tradition with careful attention to clothes, music and other background details, as well as dialogue. To make sure that the psychological aspects were plausible (the villain is a psychiatrist who uses brainwashing), for example, he even consulted a psychologist. The care Frostbitten put into the story pays off, as you will see. Though the character of James Bond is not one that Bruce has played, it is certainly one that many of us fans have discussed and wished Bruce Payne could play. So imagine, if you will, that Bruce is playing the part of Bond and step into …“The Corners of Her Mind.” "Jurgen: The Saga Continues" This story is a very different format. “Corners’ is a self-contained story while “Jurgen: The Saga Continues” is a series of continuing vignettes much like the old Saturday morning serials. It was inspired by the clever “Jurgen Lives” web site created by Jenn, the webmaster of A Girl Who Loves Bruce Payne. We thank her for the inspiration. The original stories were told as “sightings” on a message board. With the exception of the first sighting, all the subsequent ones were created by Sofia, Ariel and Israfel of Bruce’s Angels. We expanded those posts into the vignettes you will read here. Like any good serial, more vignettes will be appearing frequently as Jurgen continues his travels. The first three chapters were a collaboration among Sofia, Ariel, Merlin (our techo-wizard) and Israfel. The fourth chapter was written by Ariel. Several more are in process. We have tried to emulate Frostbitten (and Ian Fleming) in our attention to detail. The streets, liquors, language phrases, and most of the sights of the cities are accurate. We did make up the hotel and bar names because the dives we pictured are not in the guidebooks! But there really is a Rue Mouffetard in the Latin Quarter of Paris, a Dianetics Center in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan (that story comes later) and Turi is actually an Estonian vodka. For fun, each chapter also contains a reference, either direct or indirect, to one of Bruce’s films. We’ll be throwing in a few other subtle jokes and references from time to time that are not necessarily directly related to Bruce. We are having fun with this and we hope you will too. Come join us on the journey with Jurgen as the saga continues… JURGEN: THE SAGA CONTINUES For more background on La Femme Nikita and Jurgen and for the Bruce's Angels Jurgen web page, click here One further comment: Though the stories are very different in format, what they have in common is that they are all adventure stories, not sexual fantasies like some fan fic stories. We’ll leave the fantasies for other web sites. The stories may, however, have romance, which is different. © Copyright 2004, 2005 and 2006 by Bruce’s Angels |
