THEY WERE ALL DRAWN TO THE KEEP

The massive structure of The Keep was not built to keep anything out...in fact, built to keep something in..

It is World War II in German-occupied Rumania. Led by Captain Klaus Woermann (Jurgen Prochnow), German soldiers are sent to guard the Keep, a mysterious fortress. A cross embedded in the wall is taken by one of the soldiers, releasing evil and destruction, killing soldier after soldier.

Nazi soldiers under the command of Major Kaempffer (Gabriel Byrne) have been sent in
to further investigate the killings and deal with what is thought to be partisan activity. But a nightmarish discovery is soon made.

Dr. Theodore Cuza (Ian McKellen), a Jewish historian and his daughter Eva (Alberta Watson) are enlisted and dragged to The Keep to unravel the mystery of its gruesome killings. Shortly thereafter an old and crippled Dr. Cuza (McKellen) has an encounter with the resident evil within, "Molasar", The Keep's ancient evil being. Dr. Cuza agrees to sell his soul to Molasar for youth and health.

The arrival of mysterious stranger Glaeken Trismegestus (Scott Glenn) not only has a profound affect on Eva Cuza (Alberta Watson), who falls in love with this mysterious man, but also a profound affect on the evil Molasar.  For he is the one and only man who knows what Molasar is and how to destroy it.

Wondering where Bruce fits in with all this?

Bruce (a very young Bruce) plays Border Guard #2 in the film. It is a very small role with no speaking parts. Israfel captured as many photos as she could. The quality of some may not be superior, but this rare obscure film is only available on VHS and was made in 1983 with no signs of a DVD release in the near future. If it does, you can be sure we'll obtain a copy and replace these photos with new and improved ones.

In these next two photos, Bruce is second soldier holding
gun running directly behind Jurgen Prochnow

Wondering where Bruce fits in with other cast members of the film?

Jurgen Prochnow was in Ripper: Letter from Hell with Bruce, playing Detective Kelso. Alberta Watson as Madeline was in La Femme Nikita.  Bruce starred in three episodes.

The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films, USA nominated The Keep for
the Saturn Award for Best Horror Film in 1984. Music for the film by Tangerine Dream.
