Hail Britannia, they say but for retired Falklands war veteran Reuben James (Denzel Washington), it's more like Hell Britannia.  Adjusting to civilian life is not easy, especially when it's back to a crime-ridden, low-end neighborhood with no real support or trade.  What can you do as an ex-soldier?  Fight, use guns?  That's what Reuben does,  drifting  into a life of crime as the bodyguard for Colin, a drug dealer (Bruce Payne).


Cheery this film is not, and its gritty realism is not always realistic but it is gritty.  But  Bruce's performance as the easy-going scoundrel Colin makes this film palatable.  Heck, more than palatable, in spite of the grit.  Just look at  our pics of Bruce as Colin and you'll see why...
