Prologue

Jurgen: The Saga Begins:
A Synopsis

In the world of espionage, there are the good guys and the bad guys. Section represents the forces of the “Free World,” the West, the forces of freedom against the forces of terror and tyranny.  Or so we have been told.  But in the world of Section, the lines are often blurred. Good guys are sometimes killed. Innocent lives are sometimes sacrificed. Civil liberties merely words, individual rights, an idea easily brushed aside.

In the dark world of Section, everyone is controlled—both the operatives and the keepers. The operatives do what they were told or they die. There is no escape—or so they are told. Nikita had managed to escape --but found the hiding out, constant fear, and life without Michael too high a price to pay. She came back.

But she came back to suspicions. Was she telling the truth when she claimed that she been a prisoner of the Freedom League for six months? Operations assigned a special operative to work with her and find out the truth—Jurgen. As Walter, the resident technie, said “I’ve seen him help some people and I’ve seen him destroy people.”  Which will it be with Nikita?

Jurgen quickly figured out that Nikita was lying. This caused Michael to panic but Nikita intuitively trusted Jurgen..  Jurgen, the man who had at first been so intimidating and stern, began to open up to Nikita.  Michael, on the other hand, did what he had done so often to her—he coldly pushed her away.  When Jurgen told Nikita “I could learn to love you,” she began to respond to Jurgen.

One night she went to Jurgen’s house and things heated up. But Michael was up to his old tricks and much more. Unknown to Nikita, she had been bugged. Before Jurgen and Nikita had a chance to make love, Michael summoned her away with the phone call code “Josefina,” the one she had no choice but to answer.

The bug allowed Section to access and breach Jurgen’s home security. Jurgen, it seems, had a hold on Section that allowed him to have some freedom within this community of slaves and automations. If Section didn’t order him around like the others, he wouldn’t release the damaging information about Section. Jurgen had a freedom that no other operative had. This was unacceptable to Section; they must always have complete control. Once Jurgen’s security was breached and his computer accessed, Section was able to  neutralize the information. Jurgen was no longer free.

Jurgen found this new situation intolerable. If he could not be free, he didn’t want to live. But now he had something to live for—Nikita. Was it enough? Or was his loss of freedom too high a price to pay, even for Nikita’s love?

A plan to blow up a crucial computer central to the machinations of the Freedom League  went awry. It wouldn’t blow up unless someone ran back in the building to operate the failed bomb mechanism manually. Jurgen decided to sacrifice himself and be a dead hero.  Or did he? The official version says he died when that building blew up.  We have information that suggests otherwise.
