SECOND
ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Here
we are at our second anniversary: May 1, 2006. Two years--- and
don't think it's been easy. We've worked very hard to keep this web
site going, had many obstacles to overcome, but we've loved every
minute of it. Look at our inspiration!
We've had a busy year doing many new things as well as the old. We were happy to be able to promote two Bruce films: Paranoia 1.0 and Dungeons & Dragons II. We thought Paranoia 1.0 was an exceptionally intelligent film so we posted 3 positive reviews of it online at Amazon, IMDb, and CDUniverse. We had pics of D&DII posted mere hours after its premiere on the Sci Fi Channel. We continue to add pics from D&DII since we have been the only fan site promoting it. For fun, we have also added a musical slide show, a photo story, and audio/video clips based on D&DII. The slide shows and photo stories are new elements we have added this year. Israfel and Ariel have had a blast doing them (Israfel was in heaven doing the D&DII ones! ). A lot of work but a lot of fun. You can click here for the musical slide shows and here for the photo stories. Our favorite slide show is still "Jurgen's Choice" but all the rest are closely tied for second. You can expect to see many more of these mini-movies. As Israfel says. "Let's cut to the chase and get to the Bruce parts." We have discovered the joys of Wikipedia. We placed a second pic of Bruce on the Bruce Payne page and added our links . We also added links to appropriate pages on our site to the Wiki pages for several of Bruce's films, including D&DI, D&DII, Highlander and Absolute Beginners. Apparently Wiki is very popular because we get dozens of hits every week from these links. We're happy to do anything which helps promote Bruce so we'll be doing more Wiki work in the future. Our other favorite Bruce vehicle to promote is La Femme Nikita and when the DVD that included Jurgen came out, we went to town on the pics, replacing all our old grainy ones! Our sister site Bruce Payne Rules also added a bunch of Jurgen pics, including more deliciously steamy ones with Nikita. O-o-oh-la-la. And not to forget "Jurgen's Choice." The reason it's our favorite is the moving story it tells and the poignantly appropriate music by Roger McGuinn that accompanys it. We also stepped up "production" of audio/video clips from Bruce films. A hard job but Israfel was willing to make the "sacrifice." ;) Needless to say, there'll be more of these in the future. Talk about cutting to the chase! Click here for the clips. Of course, we keep a steady stream of screensavers and wallpapers coming. Whatever your favorite Bruce film, we'll get to it if we haven't already. We have also been steadily adding pages for Bruce films that we hadn't yet posted. Israfel really "toils" away on all those pics. Her collection is up to around 7000 now so we are up to this task. ;) Then there's Sofia's fabulous calendars, which get better every year! One new element we've added is an article and interview section. We've found back issues of Fangoria and The Face that included pics never seen on any other web site till ours. Our favorite is the pic of Bruce as the Warlock that appears on our Update page. Just too kool! And just to keep us out of mischief we have also been working on new
fanfic. Israfel is discovering the joys of writing, as the
primary author of "A Knight to Remember" and "Kell's Angels."
Ariel, who in her alternative identity is a published professional
author, thinks that Israfel has real
story-telling talent. And Ariel and Sofia promise to get back to
the Jurgen fanfic soon! We work hard to make sure none of
our fanfic qualifies for Godawful
Fan Fiction, a site that has to be read to be believed. What
a hoot! Our brother angel Qamiel, along with Ariel and Israfel, started a new web site in 2005 dedicated to Bruce's darker, edgier roles: Welcome to the House of Payne. This web site has allowed us to get really creative with the art work. Whew! We have more "creepy" ideas for the future... Our latest new "thing" is the morphing pic on the main page. As we get the hang of it, expect more of these fun animated photos in the future. Who knows what other animated fun lies in our future... What else does the future hold? Who can tell? We do know that we have many more ideas waiting to be implemented. We also know that we have thoroughly enjoyed paying tribute to a fine actor. We are proud of what we have accomplished but we acknowledge that the true inspiration is Bruce Payne. After all, it's all about Bruce, not us. As we said last year at this time, we imagine that such lavish praise makes him uncomfortable. But as we also said before, Bruce fans know he deserves such praise. We plan to continue doing the best we can to promote and pay tribute to Bruce Payne. See you all same time next year!
